First, legislation was passed last summer that mandates breakfast be part of the school day. Statistics show that children who eat breakfast are healthier and more alert in class. We serve breakfast everyday (except 2 hour delays), and have several choices to choose from.
Second, as many of you know, we have waived the $.30 charge for breakfast if your child qualifies for a reduced breakfast. This will remain in effect for the 2010-2011 school year. Currently 45% of free students and 25% of reduced students eat breakfast regularly. There are 400 Penn Manor students eligible for reduced meals and approx. 100 eat breakfast daily. Our goal is to double that amount to 200. The $.40 charge for reduced lunch will remain in effect.
If you send a check for your child’s lunches, please remember to put the child’s name on the check. Also, if you would like to monitor your child’s account or make a payment, you can go on www.nutrakids.com. Thank you, and if you have any questions, please call, Becky Rineer extension 3404.
