Today our 6th graders learned that through the use of red cabbage juice, students could determine the alkalinity of common household items. Red cabbage juice contains a natural pH indicator that changes colors according to the acidity of the solution. Red cabbage juice indicator is easy to make, exhibits a wide range of colors, and can be fun for sixth graders to use while experimental inquiry during Science class. It also helps the students to determine whether those items are acids or bases. Check out some of the pictures and videos associated with this lesson.
