It seems many of our pending excuses are turning from pending to unlawful because folks are forgetting to send in an excuse note. Please be mindful of how important it is to send notes to the office in a timely manner. I have copied an excerpt from our elementary handbook as a reminder.
Excuse forms or a written note from a parent should be returned to the classroom teacher immediately following an absence but will not be accepted after three days. If your child is absent for a portion of the school day, the number of minutes of missed instruction will be added to his/her attendance record. Arrival after 9:00 am is considered tardy and students will need to bring an excuse card or handwritten note signed by a parent explaining the reason for the tardiness.
If your child has a lengthy illness and will miss 2 or more days of school and you would like to have homework collected, please give the teacher 24-hours notice in order to gather the homework needed. If your child is out 3 or more consecutive days, he/she will need a doctor’s note in order for the absence to be excused.
This Friday Martic will be helping to promote the upcoming High School Musical, Freaky Friday by challenging students and teachers to switch it up! Students, Friday is your day to dress up like your teachers!! Teachers and Staff will also be participating by dressing up like students. Who will look more convincing?
Just a reminder that we have an early dismissal Friday. This means all children will be dismissed 2 hours early from school (1:30 PM). This also means that the bus drop off time at the end of the day will be 2 hours earlier. If you forget this time, please refer to your transportation letter that was sent out.
Early dismissals and how they pertain to kindergarten: On early dismissal days we host one class of kindergarten. It is either AM or PM. Friday, January 25, all of the AM class will attend school the full day (9:00-1:30) and they eat lunch at school. The PM class will not have school on this day.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

A Kindergarten Information Night and Preschool Expo will be held February 5, from 6:15 to 8 pm, at Hambright Elementary School, 3000 Charlestown Road, Lancaster 17603.
The snow date is February 6.
Preschool Expo: Beginning at 6:15 pm, Penn Manor families will have the opportunity to network with representatives of local preschools to learn about Pre-K options in our area. Penn Manor does not currently offer a preschool program.
Enrolling your child in a Pre-K program helps build a solid foundation for learning and eases the transition to kindergarten.
Kindergarten Information Night: At 7 pm, our Penn Manor kindergarten teachers will provide an overview of our curriculum and explain how you can help ensure that your child is ready to attend kindergarten.
Parents may attend one or both events. Registration is not required, and child care will not be provided.
